Momentum key for Yapp

Cardiff Blues prop John Yapp is hoping his side can maintain their form as the Magners League returns this weekend.

The Blues have had a good start to the season and are currently second in the table, just a point behind leaders Munster.

And the 27-year-old, who was named in Warren Gatland’s Wales squad for the Autumn internationals earlier this week, is looking to keep the momentum going when the Blues host the Scarlets in the Welsh capital tomorrow.

“The Scarlets is a big game, it’s a Welsh game and derbies are always big games,” said Yapp.

“We’re at home so hopefully we can get the result to keep the momentum in our campaign.

“We had a poor start to the season last year but have got some good wins for far this year.

“Everyone is happy, we just need to kick on, keep winning and maintain our form in the Magners League.

The Scarlets are only two points behind their rivals in fourth and turned many heads with their attacking capabilities in Europe over the last two weeks.

And Yapp is only too aware of the threat posed by the West Wales side.

“They have been playing some great rugby,” added Yapp.

“They have got a lot of good youngsters down there who are playing and improving all the time.

“From the first half in Leicester you might have thought they could win but the Tigers turned up the heat in the second half.

“But they have been playing well and it will be a tough game for us.”
