Glasgow Warriors are hopeful that this evening’s clash against European Champions Toulouse will go ahead at Firhill.

A final decision will be made later today by the match referee, but the situation has improved considerably.

The severe weather that has swept across Britain has caused major disruption in Scotland and with roads surrounding the stadium and public areas within Firhill struggling in the conditions there were worries earlier in the week that the game would have to be played behind closed doors.

The improvement means it is likely the game will go ahead in front of the passionate Warriors support.

Supporters have been asked though to allow themselves plenty of time to get to the ground and to take extreme care on foot.

"It's encouraging to be in a position to expect the game to go ahead," Glasgow chief executive Kenny Baillie told the Scotsman.

"Clearly we will continue to monitor the weather, but every effort is being made to get the game on.

"A massive amount of work has gone into ensuring we are in the best possible shape operationally in the lead up to what is one of the biggest games of our season.

“ I'd like to thank everyone who has been involved so far and urge supporters to continue checking the website for updates. A final inspection of the ground will be made by the match referee tomorrow and a further update will be communicated then, so please continue to monitor"
