Brian O’Driscoll could return to action for Leinster this weekend in the European Cup.
The British & Irish Lion has not played since injuring his jaw while on duty for Ireland in the autumn internationals.
It was initially feared O’Driscoll had broken his jaw, however further examinations have revealed a cracked cheekbone, significantly reducing the 31-year-olds time on the sideline.
O’Driscoll’s return is ideal timing for Joe Schmidt ahead of a busy festive period when the Magners League returns. Leinster travel to Ravenhill on Monday 27 December before welcoming Connacht to Dublin the following weekend.
The Magners League Champions the Ospreys are then next up for Leinster before another fortnight break for European action.
In further injury news, Jamie Heaslip should also be available for this weekend’s game after picking up an ankle injury away to Clermont Auvergne.
