Leicester Tigers coach Richard Cockerill has heaped the praise on young Scarlets flanker Josh Turnbull following the side’s encounter in the European Cup on Saturday.

The Tigers staged a second-half comeback to power their way to victory at the Parc-y-Scarlets but former England hooker Cockerill was extremely impressed with the performance of Turnbull who is fighting for a place in Warren Gatland’s Six Nations squad.

“He was a right pain for us in that first-half,” said Cockerill.

“He was very good over the ball and stole all our ball. At 22 he’s a quality player.

“I thought Josh was outstanding,” he said.

“He is a machine, he just doesn’t stop, he was everywhere.”
