Newport Gwent Dragons have clinched a semi-final spot against Gloucester in the LV = Cup after a 26 v 9 victory over the Scarlets at Rodney Parade.

A clinical second-half display brushed the Scarlets aside with full-back Martyn Thomas crossing for two tries on his return from a serious leg injury.

Luke Charteris also touched down for the Dragons and fly-half Matthew Jones kicked 11 points to secure the victory.

The Scarlets’ only points came from three Dan Evans penalties but their injury crisis continued with captain Phil John stretchered off with a leg injury.

The Welsh side will travel to Kingsholm to face the English Premiership side on Sunday March 13 in the semi-finals of the anglo-welsh tournament.
