Benetton Treviso flanker Paul Derbyshire has thrown his name back into the selection pot for Italy after recovering from a thigh injury.

The Cecina born forward has made eight appearances for the Italian franchise in the Magners League, but missed the opening three games of the 2011 RBS 6 Nations with injury and is now hoping to receive the call to line-up against France in Rome this weekend.

"I am working on being ready if Nick Mallett wants to use me throughout Saturday's game," he said.

"I am physically 100 per cent.

"I have only taken a little bit of time to find the rhythm with the squad considering I have not played for Italy since the November Tests."

Mallet will announce his squad for the game later today as Italy go in search of their first victory in this year’ tournament. Impressive outings against Ireland and Wales have impressed many this year, but without a win to their name they are searching for a win to avoid the Wooden Spoon award.
