Glasgow Warriors have been dealt a blow after Richie Vernon agreed a deal to move to Sale Sharks.

The 10-cap Scotland No.8 has agreed a two-year deal at Edgeley Park. Vernon made his Glasgow debut in the 2007-08 season and has gone on to establish himself in the set-up.

Vernon has made 30 appearances for the Scottish side but will leave at the end of the current season.

"Steve Diamond (Head Coach) is very clear on the way forward for Sale Sharks, and I am delighted to commit myself to the club for the next two seasons," said Vernon.

"Having broken into the Scotland side, I see the opportunity as a challenge that will only improve me as a player."
