Cardiff Blues flanker Sam Warburton has admitted he can’t wait to lead Wales out at the Millennium Stadium against the Barbarians next month.

Warburton was named as captain of a 26-man squad for the game announced by Warren Gatland yesterday and he full of excitement ahead of the fixture which is just over three weeks away.

“To be honest it was something I wasn't expecting at all," he said.

"It came right out of the blue and now the game can't come quickly enough for me.

"It has all happened so quickly, I was just glad to be in the squad after a few injuries this season let alone be captain.

"I'm really glad that Warren has the faith in me to lead the team and it is going to be an exciting few weeks.

"I have got a bit of captaincy experience behind me from Wales U19's and U20's but I am just aiming to prepare as normal and enjoy the week,

"I have been around squad now for a few years and I don't feel as new as I used to and looking forward to stepping up.”
