News, Ospreys

Ospreys skipper Justin Tipuric has praised his side’s spirit and resolve after two successive wins to open up their RaboDirect Pro12 campaign.

Tipuric was the hero last time out against Edinburgh when the back-rower broke clear in the final minute to touch down and give the Welsh side a 26-19 win.

That result came hot on the heels of a morale-boosting 27-3 opening day victory against last year’s runners up Leinster.

And despite two fine showings from Tipuric, the 22-year-old was quick to downplay his own exploits in favour of praising the team’s character in their back-to-back wins.

"We work hard for each other. Against Leinster we managed to get the points at the start but we knew that against Edinburgh it might not be so easy so we had to keep working,” he said.

"We had good line speed in defence which made it difficult for Edinburgh. It was great spirit, we dug in right until the end.

“We expected Edinburgh to bounce back after last week, they are a good team and we knew they'd come down and make life difficult for us.

“It was an arm wrestle right through the game until the end. We had to stick to our structure, keep digging in, and we knew that we'd get a chance.

“As you saw, right until the end everybody worked hard, including the subs who came on off the bench. Everyone dug in and we were really tight.

“We back each other, we know what we can do as a team and we know the players around us and you've just got to read them. Keep your composure and hopefully we can continue to take the points when we get the chance."
