Benetton Rugby Team Announcement

Benetton Treviso is flying early this afternoon (Friday) to Limerick, where they will play against Munster in the 13th game of this RaboDirect PRO12 season.

Following the good win in the derby against Aironi last week, Franco Smith resists huge changes to Saturday’s starting XV.

Manoa Vosawai replaces Robert Barbieri, who was hit hard on the face during the previous match.

On the bench, replacing the Fijian born player will be Enrico Pavanello, while the only other change among the replacements will be Matteo Muccignat for Pedro Di Santo.

Treviso will face a willing-to-win Munster, as the Irish team has lost against Ulster last week, losing third place in the table.

Last year Treviso suffered a huge defeat against the Red Army from Cork and Limerick, especially in the scrum: the Italians had to ask for uncontested scrums as the yellow card was shown to two front rowers.

In that 39-13 Munster scored five tries, while Treviso just one almost at the end of the match, thanks to Ludovico Nitoglia. That day marked also Simon Picone’s debut in the back row.

Treviso come close to an important result two years ago in the Heineken Cup game but the greatest outcome finally arrived last February, when De Waal’s kicks and Padrò’s try gave Treviso their first win against Munster.

It happened on 13th February 2011 during the 6 Nations Tournament, as the Stadio Monigo gave Antonio Pavanello and teammates a standing ovation thanking them for that 19-18 victory.

Referee for tomorrow’s match will be Welsh Nigel Owen.

The match will be broadcast live on RaiSport 2 (channel 58 of the DTT, 228 of Sky or on the website from 21:10 Italian time, with live commentary by Nicola Sangiorgio and Tommaso Visentin, or on Radio VenetoUno (fm 97.5).

Tandy: We’ll keep Giles grounded
