Cardiff Blues centre Jamie Roberts has handed the Welsh RaboDirect PRO12 region a major boost by using Twitter to dismiss rumours he is going to join the French exodus.

A host of Wales’ biggest stars including James Hook, Lee Byrne and Mike Phillips are already plying their trade across the channel and more might be set to follow with Newport Gwent Dragons skipper Luke Charteris the latest player to announce he will be heading to the Top 14.

Big-spending Toulouse had been heavily linked with the 25-year-old Roberts however the Blues centre has insisted otherwise.

With a medical degree at Cardiff University to finish the 41-cap Wales international took to the social network to declare his future lies in the capital.

Toulouse are apparently ready to spend £200,000 to buy out the last year of the inside-centre's contract but Roberts said: “Rumours in the press this morning about a move to France…I'm certainly a Cardiff Blue next season and will hopefully graduate as a doctor!”
