Zebre backs coach Alessandro Troncon insists there can be no excuses with the club still chasing a first RaboDirect PRO12 success.
The Italian side, who only came into the competition this season, have lost their first six fixtures ahead of this week’s trip to the Scarlets.
And while the rapid nature with which the team had to be put together to replace Aironi, as well as an extensive injury list, explains some of the club’s difficulties, Troncon is adamant that the club must move forward.
He said: “We have lost every game so it isn’t a positive in terms of results. But we need to keep working as hard as possible, especially at this sort of time. There is a project which we need to carry out.
“The speed with which Zebre were put together is no excuse. The project is ambitious and we will keep working to fulfil it. We need to admit though there are things that don’t help.
“I’m talking in particular about injuries, out of 40 players we only have about 24 who are fit to go away from home. It would be good if everyone were available.
“It’s true that we could have won a couple of matches. But I repeat, there are no excuses. We need to concentrate on what we can control and not think about what we can’t like injuries or refereeing.
“I’m waiting for us to take a step forward, especially when it comes to the style of play. We are working very hard on the defence but I hope we can improve our attack.”
