Five Guinness PRO12 stars have been called up to the British & Irish Lions squad and will start on the bench for the tourists game against the Chiefs on Tuesday.
Glasgow Warriors’ Finn Russell and Allan Dell, of Edinburgh, are the two Scots called up after their victory in Australia while four Welsh internationals are also included.
“I have to get up to speed,” Russell said. “I’m looking forward to meeting up with everyone and getting to know the guys.
“We’ve just come off the back of a big win and I’m celebrating that, but I’m pretty tired from the game, so it hasn’t really sunk in. I’m just going to try to take it in my stride.”

The Cardiff Blues pair of Kristian Dacey and Cory Hill as well as Scarlets’ Gareth Davies have also received the call from Warren Gatland for the midweek tour game.
All three were involved in Wales’ 24-6 win over Fiji, alongside Tomas Francis who also joins the Lions, on Friday night and were in the stands to see the Lions beat the Maori All Blacks on Saturday night.
And acting Wales head coach Robin McBryde, a Lion himself in 2001, was delighted to see four of his charges heading to Hamilton to link-up with the Lions.
“We’ve said from the outset that we’re here to support the British & Irish Lions should they need it and we’re pleased to be able to do so now,” he said.

“Kristian, Gareth, Cory and Tomas are great professionals who have made a very positive contribution to Wales’ tour so far, not least in the game at Eden Park.
“This is a proud moment for them and the whole Wales squad wishes them the best of luck.”
