That 25-23 defeat could have turned out differently but for a missed drop goal at the death, but rather than focus on the loss, Bortolami has turned his attention to get the squad healthy again before their next league game against the Ospreys in a fortnight.
He said: "We're a team that has put the basics into practice better than last year and in attack we've improved as well.
"We've come off a few good games in the Pro12 but this break is important for us. It will allow us to get a few injured players back and get our energy back.
"We've played a lot over the last month. Against Edinburgh we played well, we have to play well when we come back and not take a step backwards."
